It’s been a rough start to the year, but now we are well and truly into 2022 and there are no more excuses; school is back, holidays are over and now it’s time to knuckle down and start working hard! 

January was for resetting the mind, building strength foundations and recapping the technical basics. Whether you made it once, every week or every day you still made a good start towards a better, healthier and fitter you. If you didn’t, do it now!

February is for FITNESS!

This coming month you will build on the basics from January and start hitting some volume to increase lung capacity and muscular endurance. Expect to be playing with wall Balls, dumbbells, box jumps, kipping movements, rowing, barbell cycling, double unders and everyones favourite BURPEES! 

Do NOT stress if you see movements here that you cannot do. There are many scaling options available and lots of tips and tricks to help improve movement efficiency and help  build confidence while moving safely and quickly. Focus on getting fitter and moving faster!

The CrossFit Open starts February 24th and we want you ALL to feel confident and keen to give it a go, no matter whether you’re an absolute beginner or Rx athlete. For those who are new to this, The CrossFit Open is an annual event that allows all members of CrossFit affiliates around the world to participate, it is an online competition designed to test your fitness, strength and skills and join together as a team by supporting and encouraging each other every week with a new workout. There are 3 workouts released over 3 weeks all of which will be done in class, once the workout is done if you have registered you log your result online and can then see where you stack up among others of similar experience and age. There are options for EVERYONE and it’s a great way to test your mental and physical capacity with the encouragement and support of your coaches and fellow Powerhouse athletes. There is something special about seeing a fellow CrossFitter get their first pull up or muscle up, start linking double unders together, hold onto the barbell for dear life or purely finish a workout they never thought they’d be able to do. This is the magic of the CrossFit Open!

Don’t forget, if you have specific goals book in a consultation with one of our coaches so we can help you make a plan to see them through! We also have extra programs available on request if you want to make some gains in Olympic Lifting, Power Lifting or Gymnastics.
